From a litigation perspective, personal injury law, also referred to as tort law, covers all areas where undue harm in some form has taken place either intentionally or by negligence, and the plaintiff may have a right to some form of compensation. Tort law serves to protect a person’s interest in his or her bodily security, tangible property, financial resources, or reputation.
Given this broad definition, personal injury, as a result of a person’s action or inaction, can occur in many situations. The following are some common areas of personal injury law. Keep in mind that the following list are common areas of personal injury compensation, and that if your case does not fall within one of these areas, you may still have a legitimate case. If you have been harmed in some way under the following circumstances, then you may be entitled to compensation.
Defamation, Libel, and Slander
